Who publishes this site

Christopher Lao-Thiane, independent marketing consultant, Kigali, Rwanda. Publication director: Christopher Lao-Thiane. Contact: [email protected]. The site is hosted by OVH SAS, 2 rue Kellermann, 59100 Roubaix, France.

What I collect, and what for

Contact form. Your name, your email address and your message, so that I can answer you. The form is operated by Formspree (Formspree Inc., United States). I keep the exchange for as long as it is useful to the request, and at most three years after our last message.

The paper and the template. Your email address, your first name, your role and your country, so that I can send you the files and, now and then, a note on marketing in African markets. The list is hosted by Mailchimp (Intuit Inc., United States). You enter it only after confirming your address, and you leave it with the link in the footer of every email. I keep your details until you unsubscribe.

Booking a call. When you book a discovery call, Calendly (Calendly LLC, United States) records your name, your email address and the slot you chose, and shares them with me.

Audience measurement. If you accept it in the banner, the site sets one Google Analytics cookie, loaded through Google Tag Manager (Google LLC, United States), to count visits and pages read. Nothing is set if you decline, and the banner remembers your choice on this device. Data is kept for the period set in Google Analytics, fourteen months by default. No advertising, no resale.

Server logs. The host records the usual connection data (IP address, pages requested, time) for security, for the period its own policy sets.

On what basis

Your consent for the paper, the notes and the audience cookie, which you can withdraw at any time. My legitimate interest in answering a request you send me, and in keeping the site secure.

Where the data goes

To the processors named above, each under its own data processing terms, some of them in the United States. I do not sell or pass on your details to anyone else.

Your rights

You can ask what I hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to its use, withdraw your consent, or ask for a copy. One email to [email protected] is enough, and I answer within a month. You can also take a complaint to the data protection authority of your country of residence: in Rwanda, the National Cyber Security Authority; in France, the CNIL.

Cookies and local storage

Analytics cookies from Google Analytics, only after your consent. Two local settings on your device, which are not cookies and never leave it: your light or dark theme, and your banner choice.
